About Wisconsin Jade
Wisconsin Jade is a nephrite that was discovered in the high hill area of Marathon County Wisconsin. This plentiful source has been in the mining process for several years producing dramatic shades of green to nearly white jade all with fascinating patterns. Its particular hardness enables a high gloss and durable polished surface. Both large boulders and slabs have been excavated to produce a variety of products such as countertops to vases and jewelry. Its hardness and durability can sustain outside edifice elements. Both the GIA (Gemological Institute of America)in 2014 and the Wisconsin Geological & Natural History Survey, a part of the University of Wisconsin Madison Extension(December 1971 issue of The Lapidary Reporter), endorsed the find as nephrite jade.
